FM Group
OVERVIEW

FleuraMetz, a leading supplier in the flower and plant industry, operates under the umbrella of FM Group. I began my work at FleuraMetz under challenging circumstances as the sole designer, focusing initially on addressing the most urgent priorities. After this initial phase, I had the opportunity to rebuild FleuraMetz’s design strategy. I not only built a team of designers but also took responsibility for restructuring their design system, making it sustainable and scalable for the future. FleuraMetz manages 13 whitelabels, each with unique functionalities, an order-picking application, a merchandising app, a webshop via web and app, and multiple marketing websites. The flower and plant trade is particularly complex due to the short shelf life of products and the complications involved in export logistics. These challenges make working for FM both incredibly demanding and highly rewarding.

About the project

About the Project

My initial focus at FleuraMetz was on tackling high-priority tasks, improving the most essential user experiences. With the establishment of a design team, I was able to develop a strategic vision for design that met the complex needs of FleuraMetz and its subsidiaries. The design system was completely restructured to create a sustainable, scalable foundation capable of supporting the growing number of whitelabels and their unique requirements. Additionally, FleuraMetz plays a central role in managing various internal applications, including tools for order picking, merchandising, and sales.

Goal

The goal was to provide FleuraMetz with a consistent and flexible design system that could support the diversity of its applications and platforms. In addition to leading the design team, I serve as an internal liaison between departments such as data, marketing, development, and design. This cross-functional collaboration ensures that the design aligns with the broader business goals and effectively addresses the needs of various stakeholders within FleuraMetz.

Outcome

Thanks to this restructuring and team building, FleuraMetz is now able to work more efficiently and respond faster to market developments and customer needs. The new design system provides the flexibility required to effectively support 13 whitelabels, diverse sales applications, and marketing platforms. My role as an internal liaison has streamlined communication and collaboration between teams, resulting in a more integrated and scalable digital experience for FleuraMetz and its clients. Working in such a fast-paced and challenging industry, where the short shelf life of products and export logistics add layers of complexity, has been both demanding and incredibly fulfilling. This project highlights the value of a sustainable design system and the power of a strong, multidisciplinary team to drive company-wide improvements.
